Life Change - Act 1

So since June 2, 2012, I have been on a lifestyle change. Let me tell you why, I remember this day vividly.  I was in pain; just like every other day. Why? Because I was morbidly obese and unhealthy with a 2 year old who didn't let me forget it! Every morning, he wakes up wanting juice or milk. On this day, my back, knees and feet were in so much pain, I took it out on him. I was aggravated and irritated at the same time, because he wanted me to get out of bed and go get him some milk. It was that instant I realized I can't do this to him, it's not his fault nor is it fair to either of us. I could do nothing at the point by cry, because I was mad at myself! I have a duty to be there for him I had done this him and to myself and it had gotten out of hand.
On this day, something clicked, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had to do this for him, but most importantly for myself.  I called up a friend of mine, whom I had always saw on Facebook posting about gym time, exercise time, and eating and drinking healthy.  So I called and poured out my heart and just as I thought, he really listened. Sometimes, that's all we really need. By doing that, then saying a few words to me, he helped me make up my mind that day, I was 302 lbs., I was going to do this, FOR REAL THIS TIME, and stick to it. That next weekend, I went out and bought me a juicer and a blender.

I knew, for myself, the first thing I had to tackle were my bad eating habits. I love to cook and I love to eat.. somehow, I had to use that to my advantage. So I started out juicing and blending. Within the first 2-3 months I would say, I lost 15 lbs. I was excited about seeing those numbers drop!!

It was then I decided okay, I can do this good eating thing, on to the next one... but what would the next one be? I already had a membership at the gym, but I just didn't really want to do that yet, so I searched and decided to try to hear what I had been hearing so many people rave about? Take a guess...

It was GREAT! I had to build up my stamina at first... We started a contest on October 1 to see which person would loose the most weight by the end of the year... guess who won???!!! Yep!!! I started at 289 and dropped 11 more pounds by the time our competition was over! I was feeling so much better these days, I decided in 2013, It was on to the next one.. again!!!  I still do Zumba but I have added some other things to my schedule now. In February I started doing boot-camp classes!! Loving it, and really starting to see the results!  Shout out to Mean Green Bootcamp for producing #RESULTS!
If you are in Houston area, you should definitely check them out! http://meangreenbootcamp.com/

I am currently down 44 lbs, to 258. I was down to 254 but I fall off the wagon sometimes..especially around the holidays, it's okay too, you just have to remember to get up and get back on it! I also hit a plateau for a while which really aggravated me but I recently finally got over it. I just enrolled in my next 6 week boot-camp session and plan on doing both that and Zumba and now, I throw in some gym time in there sometimes too! It's getting a lot easier and I really see my body changing. I've been able to fit into clothes that I had "grown" out of and even have had to buy a couple smaller size pants! Not too much though.. because I am not finished yet! I plan on getting down under 200. When I see 199... I'm going to celebrate!!

This month, even though I started late, I am doing a green smoothie challenge with Simple Green Smoothies. You can find them on Facebook here or, you can go to their website http://simplegreensmoothies.com/.  Today's smoothie for me was collard greens, spinach, cucumber (with skin) banana, pineapple, almond milk, and coconut water.
I had found that a lot of the Facebook pages actually keep my motivated when people post what exercises they are doing, or what they ate for dinner or making for lunch tomorrow. I'm telling you, anything that will help you stay on your path to "Promise".. do it! Anyway, wish me luck! On to the next one...

J.
